Suzhou launches new round of industrialization drive

The city of Suzhou in east China’s Jiangsu province is poised to boost its industrial added value to 5 trillion yuan in the three years ahead so as to lift its annual GDP to the new height of 3 trillion yuan. 

Zhangjiagang has released an implementation plan and high-quality development support policies to accelerate the optimization of industrial structure, striving to achieve a GDP of over 400 billion yuan by 2026, generate five industrial clusters with a value of over 100 billion yuan, and achieve an industrial output value of over 1 trillion yuan.

The Xiangcheng District of Suzhou has released a heat-map of regional spatial resources in a bid to promote the improvement of the spatial guarantee mechanism for existing enterprises and allow more high-quality projects to make investment in the district and more high-quality enterprises will stay for sustained development.

Wujiang District will prioritize the development of new energy, focusing on new energy storage and new photovoltaics in a bid to make new energy vehicles the fifth industry with an annual output value of 100 billion yuan.

“We strive to achieve the GDP target of 300 billion yuan within about three years and develop five industrial clusters with an annual output value of 100 billion yuan, including high-end textiles, new generation information technology, high-end equipment, new materials, and new energy,” said Wang Wei, Director of the Industry and Information Technology Bureau of Wujiang District, Suzhou.
