As of May 31, all but one of the 6,339 industrial enterprises above designated size that had been suspended due to the epidemic had resumed production, according to an industrial operation report released by the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology.

With the full resumption of work and production, the industrial enterprises above designated size in the province have strengthened their confidence in development and accelerated the pace of production, as is evidenced by the year-on-year growth of industrial output value by 6.2% in May alone.

A number of enterprises with independent intellectual property rights have reported rapid increase in orders, and the enterprises were producing at full capacity.

Nanjing Tongkai Zhaoye Biotechnology Co., Ltd. has reported significant increase in the number of orders from home and abroad for its nucleotide products developed by its scientific research achievement transformation project of the National Biochemical Engineering Technology Research Center.

With production line running at full capacity, the company has increased the output value by more than 10% compared with the previous months.

"Today, four cans of nucleotides in every ten cans of infant formula in the world are produced in Jiangsu. Relying on the National Biochemical Engineering Technology Research Center, we have implemented hundreds of projects for industrialization," said Ying Hanjie, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering Chairman of Nanjing Tongkai Zhaoye Biotechnology Co., Ltd.

With long-term technology accumulation, Jiangsu-based enterprises have been able to produce products in more and more fields to replace imports, expanding the province’s advantages in the manufacturing industry.

In May, as the epidemic eased slightly, Jiangsu-based companies reported a recovery in domestic and foreign orders, and further accelerated the pace of production.

Since March, Jiangsu has issued 27 guidelines in terms of epidemic prevention, logistics, and taxation for the resumption of work and production of key enterprises in areas that have reported outbreak of the epidemic.

30% of the provincial special fund for the transformation of the information industry has been allocated for the relief of small and medium-sized enterprises.

By the end of May, Jiangsu had reduced the tax burden on enterprises by more than 200 billion yuan.

Jiangsu Shenlong Group needed to pay a deposit of 2 million yuan for winning the bid for the Taizhou project of Great Wall Motors. The company was hit hard by the pandemic, resulting in insufficient liquidity, and the tight start-up time for the project made it too late to apply for a loan from the bank.

"When we were at a loss, the tax department of Yandu District handled 1.942 million value-added tax refunds for us and at the same time granted a tax deduction of 300 thousand yuan, which helped us get through the most difficult time this year, so that we have been able to increase our business gradually" said Xu Peisheng, Deputy General Manager of Jiangsu Shenlong Holding Group.

By taking multiple measures, the province has promoted the improvement of the operation of major industries. The pharmaceutical industry reported year-on-year increase of 16.5%. The electronics industry reported stable orders with relatively stable growth momentum, and the computer communications and other electronic equipment industry reported output value increase by 12.0% year-on-year. The output value of main photovoltaic products increased by 63.8% year-on-year. The market demand for food, light industry and textile industries has gradually recovered with stable growth trend. The market demand for lithium batteries has grown rapidly, and the output value has increased by 66.8% year-on-year.
