A ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of the friendly relations between Jiangsu and Fukuoka was held at a virtual meeting on Thursday. Among the leaders delivering speeches at the ceremony were Wu Zhenglong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, Seitaro Hattori,Governor of Fukuoka Prefecture, Kiraki Kazuhisa, Speaker of the Fukuoka Assembly and Lv Guijun, the Chinese Consul General in Fukuoka. Governor Xu Kunlin attended the ceremony.
Wu Zhenglong expressed his sincere gratitude to the friends who have made unremitting efforts for the long-time friendly exchanges between Jiangsu Province and Fukuoka Prefecture, and the Chinese Consulate General in Fukuoka.
He said that he was very happy to meet with the Governor and the Assembly Speaker at the virtual meeting on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of friendly relations between Jiangsu and Fukuoka.
Wu Zhenglong said that the development of friendly and cooperative relations between the two regions conforms to the common interests of both sides, adding that Jiangsu and Fukuoka have always held firm the belief in friendship and insisted on going hand in hand, making the friendly and cooperative relationship stronger after enduring the test of time.
The CPC provincial chief remarked that in October last year, President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida reached an important consensus on taking the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity to promote the establishment of a China-Japan relationship that meets the requirements of the new era, which has pointed out the goal and direction for the next development of bilateral relations.
Jiangsu and Fukuoka share strong complementary advantages in many aspects with room for cooperation as Fukuoka is known as Japan's gate to Asia, with outstanding advantages in manufacturing technology and technological innovation, said Wu Zhenglong.
He remarked that Jiangsu is a major powerhouse in China’s economic development and opening up with a profound cultural heritage, a solid manufacturing base, abundant scientific and educational talent resources, and an excellent business environment aside from its huge market with a good momentum of high-quality development.
Jiangsu is willing to work with Fukuoka to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, said Wu Zhenglong, adding that Jiangsu will take the 50th anniversary of the normalization of Sino-Japanese diplomatic relations and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of friendly relations between the two regions as new starting points, continue to deepen the exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, science and technology, environmental protection, culture, achieve mutual benefit and win-win and shared development, and work together to be the builders, defenders and contributors of the good-neighborly and friendly cooperative relations between China and Japan.
As a Chinese saying goes, one will never get mature until he turns 30, said the CPC provincial chief, adding that he believed that with the joint efforts of Jiangsu and Fukuoka, the friendship between the two regions will blossom into a more splendid future and the friendly cooperation will better benefit the people of the two regions.
Seitaro Hattori and Kazuhisa Kiraki said that since the establishment of friendly relations between Fukuoka and Jiangsu, the two sides have carried out extensive exchanges and cooperation in various fields and achieved fruitful results.
They hope to take the 30th anniversary of the establishment of friendly relations between the two regions as a new starting point to further deepen cooperation, enhance friendship and achieve win-win development.
