The county level city of Zhangjiagang has prioritized green and ecological development path so as to create a high-quality development model of productive development, prosperous life and excellent ecology.
In the early summer season, the clear waves and reeds swayed by the Zhangjiagang Bay in Suzhou.
As the last bay before the Yangtze River entered the sea, there used to be docks, roaring shipyards, and more than 160 livestock and poultry farmers scattered along the coast.
In September last year, Zhangjiagang launched a comprehensive ecological improvement project, dismantled large shipyards that have long occupied the shoreline of the Yangtze River, invested 3.76 billion yuan on the construction of river walks and ecological tourist attractions.
As the shipyards were demolished, the Zhangjiagang Bay has been turned into an ecological protective forest zone featuring the coexistence of wetlands and forests with the river walks becoming the most beautiful river embankment. Eco-tourism and homestays have driven the development of the five most beautiful riverside villages along the river.

Downstream along Zhangjiagang Bay, many characteristic demonstration sites are being built to form a green ecological corridor.
Suzhou is also stepping up efforts to promote the construction of a number of industry-optimized, high-level and open characteristic demonstration sites.
The Dongsha Chemical Park, the first chemical industry park closed on the park administrative own initiative, has been transformed and upgraded into Jiangnan Intelligent Equipment Industrial Park. The Suzhou Free Trade Zone has launched 30 innovative initiatives to create the most attractive park. Jiangsu has focused on leading industries to build 10 advanced manufacturing clusters such as biomedicine. The Shanghai-Nantong Railway Yangtze River Bridge, which facilitates transportation integration, is progressing smoothly.
