Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, and Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu, met on Thursday and Friday with Eric Chu, mayor of New Taipei City from China’s Taiwan province.
Lou Qinjian expressed his welcome to Eric Chu's first visit to Jiangsu, adding that Jiangsu is a cluster destination for Taiwan-funded businesses. In recent years, Taiwanese-funded enterprises have enjoyed a good momentum of development in Jiangsu. The development of the Taiwanese-funded enterprises has also made positive contributions to the development of Jiangsu.
At present, Jiangsu is studying and implementing the important speeches of General Secretary Xi Jinping made during the annual two sessions and the spirit of the two sessions so as to strive to promote its high-quality development to the forefront, Lou said, adding that we will continue to provide Taiwan-funded enterprises with fair, efficient, and high-quality services, promote the exchange and cooperation between Jiangsu and Taiwan to a new level, share opportunities for mainland development with Taiwanese compatriots, and make more efforts to promote the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations and expand cross-strait economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation.
Wu Zhenglong said his visit to Taiwan last year was fruitful and New Taipei City left him a deep impression.
Eric Chu expressed admiration for the breathtaking economic and social development in Jiangsu. He thanked Jiangsu for its care and help to the Taiwanese compatriots, Taiwanese businessmen and Taiwanese students, and expressed that the government of New Taipei City would play an active role in promoting economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation between Jiangsu and Taiwan.
