East China’s Jiangsu province has made unremitting efforts to promote the Chinese path to modernization by following the important speeches made by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his inspection tours to Jiangsu in July and December.
The petrochemical industry is an important pillar industry of the national economy and a key traditional industry for Jiangsu's economic transformation and upgrading under the goals of carbon neutrality and peak carbon emissions.
Shenghong Petrochemical, an industry leader located in Lianyungang, signed on December 14 a cooperation agreement with Honeywell to jointly establish a digital and intelligent joint innovation center to enhance the safety, reliability, efficiency, and sustainability of the entire industry's production and operation.
Spearheaded by intelligent transformation and upgrading, Shenghong Petrochemical has increased the self-control rate of its intelligent factories to over 95%, continuously accelerating the pace of building a world-class new energy and materials industry cluster.

In the first three quarters, Jiangsu reported a sustained recovery in economic performance, with a year-on-year GDP growth of 5.8%. From January to October, Jiangsu reported a year-on-year increase of 7.4% in industrial added value above designated size, and a 7.5% increase in manufacturing added value.
In the first three quarters, Jiangsu recorded a per capita disposable income of 48634 yuan for urban residents, a year-on-year increase of 5.2%, and 23079 yuan for rural residents, a year-on-year increase of 6.8%.
The Yancheng Yandu Modern Agricultural Industry Demonstration Park has adopted a series of technical measures such as water, light, and plant management by using a network monitoring system to implement precise management and improve quality and efficiency.
Relying on the strawberry industry, the local government has helped more than 200 villagers develop facility agriculture, employed 1200 people, and attracted 1.2 million picking tourists annually.
“Since the transfer of all land, we have unified the construction of roads and canals according to planning requirements, increasing the spillover rate of the total land use area by 15%, and making the economic benefits of efficient agriculture nearly 20 times higher than traditional agriculture,” said Li Wanxuan, Secretary General of Strawberry Cooperative Association in Yandu District, Yancheng City.
In 2023, 13 prefecture level cities in Jiangsu were shortlisted for the title of "Top 100 Advanced Manufacturing Industries in 2023". Jiangsu ranked first in the total number of specialized, refined, and innovative "little giant" enterprises in China. Jiangsu also leads the country by recording a total of 10 million self-employed households.
