East China’s Jiangsu province is stepping up its efforts to get ready for the annual rainy season so as to ensure safety in production and people’s lives.
Siyang County held an emergency rescue drill for removal of waterlogging by simulating heavy rainfall in the urban area and the difficulty of drainage in the low-lying areas, which led to the danger of waterlogging on the roads, so as to improve the emergency response ability of flood control.
When alerted to the call for rescue operation, 40 emergency rescue team members, 10 emergency vehicles and several large machines rushed to the designated locations as soon as possible to deal with the emergencies.
Jiangyin held a flood control and emergency rescue exercise on the Yangtze River Embankment by simulating some dangerous situations that are prone to occur when the embankment is operating at high water levels during the flood season to deal with piping hazards, pump drainage and water rescue.
All localities have also made every effort to stockpile provisions for flood control. Changzhou has stockpiled 339,000 sacks, 730,000 woven bags, and 230 pumps of various types, with a total displacement of 98,000 cubic meters per hour.
The water conservancy department in Zhenjiang city has set into motion flood and drought prevention and preparations by inspecting and maintaining the mechanical and electrical equipment and power supply lines of the pumping station, and carrying out the trial operation of the sluice gates to ensure that they can be operated at any time for drought relief.
