PREPARE MATERIALS
中国长江流域分布着大片竹海
There are great expanses of bamboo forests along the Yangtze River in China
江苏常州盛产毛竹，
当地人便因势取材，
寻找这种竹面平整，光滑无斑点，
节少杆直的竹子作为留青竹刻的原材
It produces abundant Moso bamboo
in Changzhou, Jiangsu,
so local people take the advantage,
they choose the straight bamboo
with flat and smooth surface,
no spot and few joints,
to make Liuqing Bamboo Carving
沸水中煮出竹面油脂，
再捞出快速擦拭表面，
Boil bambooto clear up the oil,
then take them out and
wipe the surface at once,
历经三至五年的风吹日晒，
才能获得这些完美的竹刻原材
expose them to the weather for 3-5years,
and then get perfect raw materials
for bamboo carving

INHERIT SKILLS
竹刻手艺人大多拥有绘画功底
Most bamboo carvers
are skilled in painting
将心中所想绘于竹面，
They draw their imagination
on the bamboo surface,
然后以竹为纸，以刀代笔，
推、刻、起、划，
将作品呈现在表面竹皮上，称为“留青”
then present their works on the Liuqing,
the surface of bamboo
by pushing, carving, lifting, and stroking
of knife as pen on bamboo as paper
这需要长期的练习
才能够达到这样行刀如运笔，
一气呵成的境界
It takes much time to practice
to complete the works smoothly
by the knife technique
竹屑纷飞，
山水和诗歌都在竹青上渐次呈现
After the bamboo skin peeling off,
landscapes and poems are gradually
presented on the bamboo surface

竹皮颜色较浅，年久呈微黄色
竹皮下的纹理年代越久，颜色越深
The bamboo skin is in a light color
and turns yellowish over time,
the bamboo body turns darker
after a longer time.
色泽层次间，
讲诉着民间趣事，记录着时代文化
The different color levels tell folk
anecdotes and record ancient culture
后代人民仅通过这一节竹尺
就能看到江南文化的繁荣和修复
The descendants can see

of Jiangnan culture
from only a short bamboo ruler

由江苏省人民政府新闻办公室、新华社新闻信息中心江苏中心联合制作的《江苏文化名片》系列微纪录片推出第八个篇章：留青竹刻。一片竹，一把刀，经过匠人的巧思妙手，镌刻人类文明的足迹。本片邀请国家级、省级非物质文化遗产常州留青竹刻传承人，带大家探访毛竹的生长环境、观摩鬼斧神工的竹刻工艺、挖掘赓续绵延的文脉故事，系统呈现江苏常州传统民间工艺，以及中国非物质文化遗产的魅力。
