East China’s Jiangsu province has released its development plan for coastal areas between 2021 and 2025 with the approval of the National Development and Reform Commission.
According to the plan, Jiangsu will develop the coastal area into an important economic development zone in the Yangtze River Delta, a marine economic innovation development zone, a new hub for the opening of east and west, and a harmonious coexistence of man and nature.
According to the plan, Jiangsu will promote industrial transformation and upgrading, build important green energy bases, promote the development of new marine engineering equipment in coastal areas, and develop independent brands.
By 2025, Jiangsu will steadily improve the overall strength of coastal areas with the annual average growth rate of regional GDP faster than the average level of the eastern region, accounting for about 20% of the provincial total.
By 2035, Jiangsu will substantially enhance the economic strength, scientific and technological strength, and comprehensive competitiveness of coastal areas. The per capita GDP and per capita disposable income of residents will be doubled on the basis of 2020, providing important support for building a strong and active growth pole in the Yangtze River Delta, a world-class urban cluster, and coastal ecological barriers.
