East China’s Jiangsu province has made headway in its pairing-up support campaign in Xizang to help the locals get rid of poverty and get rich since the campaign was launched in 1994. JSBC has the story.
The Gesangtang Modern Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Demonstration Park, built by Jiangsu in 2017 with an investment of 150 million yuan, is the first of its kind in Xizang.
At present, the demonstration park with more than 3,000 yaks has built an integrated industrial chain of drafting, cattle, meat, and milk, and helped more than 5,000 farmers and herdsmen increase production and income through the "company + base + cooperative + farmer" model.
"The yak bred in the traditional model weighs about 150 kg when it is three and a half years old. The yak we breed on a large scale can weigh more than 300 kg when it is three and a half years old, which helps farmers improve their economic benefits. In the meantime the average monthly income of farmers working in the park is 4,000 to 5,000 yuan,"said Huang Yikui, Head of Yak Breeding Base in Gesangtang Modern Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Industry Demonstration Park.
Since last year, Jiangsu has invested 8.207 billion yuan in Xizang to start 135 industrial projects.
As the industrialization base of prefabricated housing with Zangjan Technology, more than 150 local employees are speeding up the construction period to produce integrated equipped hotel rooms.
Last year, this company from Nantong, Jiangsu invested 250 million yuan to introduce a new production line and recruit local employees. Only half a year after it was officially put into production, the company has secured order of more than 200 million yuan.
"We can produce modular hotels in industrialized manufacturing and factory-based production to ensure that they are put into use quickly. Now the annual output of our factory can reach 800 million yuan in output value," said Shen Yan, Chairman of Zangjian Technology.
"I feel fantastic by working here which can bring me 6000 yuan in monthly salary ," said Bu Long, quality inspector, Zangjian Technology.
Cultivating and expanding industries with distinctive advantages and building a modern industrial system, Jiangsu pairing-up assistance in Xizang has always focused on stimulating the endogenous power of Lhasa, as is evidenced by the on-schedule completion of a number of projects with strong driving force and wide range of benefits and great influence.
Jiangsu has taken advantage of its experience in park construction and management, participated in the construction of 8 functional parks, and became the main front of Lhasa's industrial development and economic growth.
Jiangsu has also introduced a large number of Jiangsu enterprises such as Snow Eagle Aviation, Yuwell Medical, Sunrise Oriental, and Xizang Construction Technology to settle in Lhasa, providing employment for more than 10 thousand poor people.
Xizang has set up exhibition centers in Jiangsu, held promotional activities, carried out centralized procurement, and promoted the export of plateau products at home and abroad.
During the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, Jiangsu supported Lhasa with 1.92 billion yuan of funds and implemented 186 aid projects in Xizang, ranking first in the country.
