Farmers in east China’s Jiangsu province reported a 15.5% year-on-year disposable income growth in the first half of this year, according to statistics released recently by the provincial authorities

Peaches have been put on sale on the market across Jiangsu. Thanks to the promotion of fine varieties, Zhou Guangping, a peach farm owner in Shuyang County, produces high-quality peaches with good sales.

In addition to improved varieties, Jiangsu has continued to improve the planting techniques of melons and fruits.

The agricultural technology promotion departments in Changzhou and Nantong have promoted the use of organic fertilizers instead of chemical fertilizers and grass cultivation. This green and efficient planting technology has been favored by more and more fruit farmers.

Statistics show that with the support of improved varieties and good methods, the province's high-quality peach output more than doubled year-on-year in the first half of this year.

Take peach fruit as an example. The province's output value of early-ripening peaches totaled 7.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 30%.

In addition to improving the output and quality of agricultural products, Jiangsu has also promoted market adjustment and structure to seek higher benefits.

Under the promotion of various floral promotion events such as the World Horticultural Exposition and Flower Fair, the province’s flower market has been booming since the start of this year.

In the first half of this year, the Phalaenopsis cultivated by Taichuang Park in Yandu District of Yancheng was in short supply, and sales increased by more than 40% year-on-year.

Following the popularity of Phalaenopsis, all kinds of ornamental chrysanthemums are also being harvested in large quantities.

The sales of potted flowers such as Anthurium, pineapple and Chinese rose all increased by more than 40% year-on-year.

In the first half of this year, farmers in Jiangsu posted a per capita disposable income of about 14,455 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15.5% and higher than that of urban residents.
