Exhibitions of a rich variety are being held across Jiangsu province to mark the centenary of the founding of the Communist Part of China. Our staff reporter has the story.

Zhang Xianchun, an 83-year-old veteran party member in Zhenxing Village, Yangzhong City, exhibited more than 2500 red objects collected over the years.

Many of the exhibits were used by Zhang Xianchun himself. A pair of black cotton shoes with worn-out uppers is called "shoes from the party's favor."

A pair of cotton shoes strengthened Zhang Xianchun's determination to follow the party. Since joining the army in 1964, he has been collecting various personal objects.

Since retirement, he set up his family archives by placing more than 3,800 pieces of various objects he has collected over the past 57 years in 10 glass showcases, including more than 2,500 objects related to the history of the CPC.

Since the beginning of this year, Zhang Xianchun's Family Archives has received 1,260 visitors.

The members of the Paper-cut Branch of the Changzhou Elderly Painting and Calligraphy Research Association presented an ingenious "red exhibition" through a variety of paper-cut works.

The paper-cut reflect the critical moments in the history of CPC such as the founding of the Communist Party of China in 1921, the Nanchang Uprising in 1927, and the Long March of the Red Army in 1934.

The elders started to make the paper-cuts in order to get prepared to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the party.

The elders also taught the students of Changzhou Tibet Nationality Middle School to create paper-cut works to pass on the traditional skills and at the same time let the children have a deeper understanding of the party's century-old history.
