East China’s Jiangsu province led the nation in foreign direct investment last year by registering 28.38 billion US dollars, up 8.6% year on year and accounting for 16.3% of the national total.
Last year, Jiangsu recorded US$9.18 billion of direct foreign investment in manufacturing industry, accounting for 39% of the province's total foreign investment, which is 17.5 percentage points higher than the national total, and accounting for nearly 30% of the national manufacturing foreign investment.
The modern service industry has become the primary force in attracting foreign investment. Last year, the FDI in the scientific research and technical service industry, technology promotion and application service industry increased by 34.4% and 51.1% year-on-year.
Single projects with FDI over US$30 million accounted for 59.6% of the province’s total foreign investment, an increase of 5 percentage points over the same period last year.
1,413 projects increased investment, a year-on-year increase of 14.0%. The amount of additional funds received 7.83 billion US dollars, an increase of 28.4% year-on-year, accounting for 27.6% of the province's FDI.
FDI from Hong Kong reached US$18.5 billion, a year-on-year increase of 23.4%, accounting for 65.2%, continuing to be the largest source of foreign investment.
FDI from "Belt and Road" countries surged by 12.8% year-on-year, accounting for 5.7% of the provincial total.
