Primary and secondary schools in east China’s Jiangsu province are getting ready for the start of the new semester which has been delayed for more than one month due to the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus pneumonia or COVID-19.

Primary and secondary schools and kindergartens in Jiangsu have strengthened the rules for epidemic prevention and control as the new semester is approaching.

Each school has stockpiled adequate supply of face masks, disinfectants and protective clothing while hand sanitizers are placed in the washrooms.

Students and faculties will be required to undergo body temperature check before entering the campus.

Many schools have asked parents to pick up and drop off students at different time in order to avoid mass gathering and reduce the risk of infection.

Students will be arranged to go to the canteens at staggered time and have meals at the designated seats so as to avoid mass gathering.

Many schools have offered counseling to graduating students at the junior and senior high schools to help them adapt to the changes and relieve anxiety before they sit for the fate-deciding Gaokao which is now only around 80 days away.

We will try our best to help the students solve the problems that they have encountered in the cloud classrooms.

Jiangsu will see 1.06 million 625 thousand graduating high school students at the junior and senior levels when the new semester starts.

We are making the final preparations and we have still several days to go before the start of the new semester. We have all the confidence to welcome our children to be back in the school in the morning and ensure that they return home safe and sound when the school is dismissed in the afternoon.
