The city of Nanjing has issued a total of 318 million yuan in consumer vouchers to its residents in a bid to stimulate consumption and minimize the impact of the novel coronavirus epidemic on the economy.
The consumer vouchers come in seven categories with respective face value of 50 yuan and 100 yuan.
The vouchers for needy people, trade union members and rural tourism will be distributed among the institutional organizations.
The vouchers for catering, sports, books and information, which adds up to 50 million yuan, will be distributed through the online lottery system in different batches regardless of the hukou or permanent household residence.
The first round of lottery distribution was announced Tuesday evening with two more round on the way.
670 thousand people will be the winner of the consumer vouchers in three rounds.
The tourism voucher, which comes in 13 million yuan, was issued on Tuesday morning.
Weng Xiaoyong, Director of Nanjing Information Center，which said，We have used blockchain technology to regulate the consumer vouchers from the issuance to the spending so as to ensure that the consumption can be traced throughout the process and that the distribution is carried out in a fair manner.
The distribution of consumer vouchers has been hailed by the residents of Nanjing.
A resident of Nanjing said,A meal for three or four of us will cost more than 100 yuan and the consumer voucher will of course help us save money.
Tang Mingchao, assistant with Librairie Avant-grade,which said,The consumer vouchers will definitely stimulate consumption on books.

The issuance of the consumer vouchers has been lauded by the people as it has met diverse consumer demands and in particular reached out to the needy.
20 million yuan, the largest sum of the vouchers, is targeting the catering industry.
A government official said the catering industry is the hardest-hit during the coronavirus epidemic. It is also the industry that will stimulate the greatest interest among the consumers, he added.
