East Chinas Jiangsu Province has made every possible effort to ensure the steady and orderly resumption of work and the construction of major projects by formulating differentiated epidemic prevention and control measures so as to minimize the impact of the epidemic.

At Lianyungang-Xuzhou Railway Pizhou Super Bridge construction site, workers were seen erecting the bridge between Piers 107 and 108.

The Lianyungang-Xuzhou Railway is expected to open to traffic by the end of this year.

Since the resumption of work on February 16, all workers have worked against the clock to have completed the concrete pouring over four sections of the 168-meter continuous beam arch.

At the Yancheng-Nantong railway construction site, workers were seen erecting the box girder formwork. The local government and the railway construction company have joined hands to arrange for coaches to transport the workers from outside the province to the construction site so as to provide favorable conditions for the completion of the project as scheduled

Ren Cunjin, deputy manager of the Yancheng-Nantong Railway Project Headquarters of the 24th Bureau of China Railway Group, said: “In accordance with the annual goals, we have made back scheduling, increased personnel, equipment, and material input and adopted incentives so as to improve construction efficiency, shorten the construction cycle, and make up for lost time.”

Work has been resumed on seven major national water conservancy and water-supply projects including Xinmenghejiebei hub project, key plain depressions in the Huaihe River Basin, and emergency treatment of the Yangtze River bank collaps. The Provincial Water Resources Department has successively dispatched 9 working groups and technical guidance service groups to carry out comprehensive inspections, strengthen guidance for resumption of work, and step up epidemic prevention and control.

The Provincial Water Resources Department will further optimize the construction organization design, adjust the construction arrangement, and ensure the safety of the flood season and the completion of the year's construction tasks.

Various departments across the province have resorted to cloud contract-signing to address the practical difficulties encountered in resumption of work. A contract has been signed on a US$50-million Taiwanese-invested carbon fiber project in Huai'an and Kunshan through remote video. As the fourth largest Taiwanese investment destination in the Chinese mainland, Huai'an has introduced nine preferential measures for Taiwanese-funded enterprises.

Gong Xiaoqin, director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province, said: “We will provide the best policies and the best services to further enhance Taiwan-funded firms’ confidence in their development in Huai'an.”

Jiangning District of Nanjing has cloud-signed 11 key investment projects with a total investment of 13.2 billion yuan through video connection. The projects cover new energy vehicles, biomedicine, high-end intelligent equipment and other industrial fields. Among the major provincial-level projects launched this year, 11 projects are from Jiangning District. Their annual investment total 18.73 billion yuan, setting a record high.

Yangzhou and Xuzhou have also landed 20-billion-yuan contracts through cloud signing.
