Lou Qinjian, secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, visited the Provincial People's Hospital and Southeast University to convey holiday greetings to Wang Xuehao, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Cui Tiejun, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Lou Qinjian thanked the academicians and experts for their outstanding contributions to the construction of a new Jiangsu, and stressed the need to further create a good atmosphere in the province that respects, cares for, and highlight the role of talents, a better environment for their work and life so as to ensure a broader stage to bring into full play their innovation and entrepreneurship.
Academician Wang Xuehao, director of the Institute of Liver Surgery of the Provincial People's Hospital, is a pioneer of living liver transplantation in mainland China.
Despite his advance years, he has remained committed to his clinical work and has diagnosed and treated tens of thousands of patients. He has won the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award and the First Prize of the Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award.
Lou Qinjian wished him a long and healthy life and a happy family.
When told that Wang Xuehao and his team have taken the lead in the country, Lou Qinjian was more than pleased to say that people's health cannot be separated from high-level medical services, adding that Jiangsu has the foundation and conditions for building a first-class medical institution, making it all the more necessary to meet the urgent needs of the people for high-quality medical and health services, and accelerate the establishment of more professional departments and general hospitals that take the lead in the country.
Cui Tiejun, a professor at the School of Information Science and Engineering of Southeast University, has long been engaged in the research of computational electromagnetics algorithms.
He was elected as a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences last November.
In the State Key Laboratory of Millimeter Waves, Lou Qinjian was briefed on the progress of the research projects, watched the demonstrations of the laboratory and had an in-depth discussion with Academician Cui Tiejun.
He wished Cui Tiejun to lead the team for greater achievements, promote a closer integration of academic research and industry in Jiangsu, and help Jiangsu develop with high quality.
Cui Tiejun said that the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government have introduced incentive policies for science and technology workers and created the best environment, making it all the more important for him and his team to work hard to create more research breakthroughs.
During the inspection tour, Lou Qinjian stressed that talent is the primary resources.
The high quality development of Jiangsu cannot be separated from an excellent pool of talents, he said.
The 102 academicians working full time in Jiangsu are the precious resources for Jiangsu’s development, Lou stressed.
The CPC provincial chief demanded that government departments should further implement the policies and measures of the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government on the work concerning the role of talents, further improve the work of guaranteeing the services for talents, continue to deepen the reform and innovation system and mechanism, fully stimulate the vitality and creativity among talents and create the best environment for their innovation and entrepreneurship.
