At the 2019 Zijinshan Summit for Entrepreneurs across the Taiwan Straitwhich was closed on Tuesday, representatives from the cross-strait business community exchanged ideas on cooperation in cultural creativity, youth entrepreneurship, and information industry.

SMEs have become the main force of cross-strait economic integration. At the SME and Youth Entrepreneurship Promotion Group Forum, the entrepreneurs believe that SMEs from both sides of the Taiwan Strait can effectively cope with external risk challenges and develop and expand in a complex environment only if they are deeply integrated, and continue to make themselves stronger and better.

Huang Wenrong, Secretary General of Taipei Import and Export Guild:“We have established a cooperative alliance between the two sides of the strait. The enterprises on both sides of the strait have deepened their integration in talent exchange training in talents development in business and development in the market. This year the procurement at the Taiwan Mart reached 1 billion yuan.”

Digital empowerment was a hot topic for participating entrepreneurs at the special forum of the modern service industry and cultural and creative industry cooperation promotion group.

Wang Wenxi, deputy CEO of Nanjing Creative Center:“We are now working on a large database of modern services in Nanjing and Taiwan recording relevant cases and entrepreneurial resources in the form of big data and sharing them with enterprises and teams with needs across the strait.”

At the special forums of various promotion groups such as comprehensive cooperation, energy and environmental protection, and financial industry, the entrepreneurs believe that the introduction of the 26 measures will provide a broader space for cross-strait exchanges and cooperation and increase stronger power.

Li Chongzhang, Executive Vice President of Shanghai Taiwan Compatriots Investment Enterprise Association:“The 26 measures encourage us to participate in the formulation of standardsso for Taiwanese businessmen,if we can participate early in this time.I think we should be able to grasp certain opportunities.”

Zheng Jiazhong, Chairman of the Taishin Bank Culture and Art Foundation:“The 26 measures allow Taiwanese businessmen to comprehensively enjoy the same treatment as the mainland, which has been hailed by Taiwanese businesses. Therefore the Chinese on both sides of the strait should cooperate with each other to make inroads into a larger world market.”

The State Council Taiwan Affairs Office and the National Development and Reform Commission on Monday unveiled measures to further promote economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation across the Taiwan Strait.

Known as the "26 measures," they are effective from the day of their promulgation, according to an official statement.

Thirteen of the 26 measures are about ensuring that enterprises from Taiwan receive the same treatment as those from the mainland, including investing in or participating in projects of major technological equipment, 5G, circular economy, civil aviation, theme parks and new types of financial institutions.

The same treatment for enterprises from Taiwan also applies to policies of financing, trade remedy, export credit insurance, import and export facilitation and standard formulation.
