Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, met on Sunday in Nanjing with a delegation of provincial CPPCC members from Hong Kong. Huang Lixin, chairwoman of the provincial CPPCC, was present at the meeting.
On behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee, the Provincial Government, and the Provincial People’s Political Consultative Conference, Mr. Lou expressed his welcome to the delegation and expressed his gratitude to the members for their contributions to the development of Jiangsu.
He said that Jiangsu has bolstered its confidence in adjusting the industrial structure, seizing the opportunity to promote innovation and development, and striving to build a modern and controllable industrial system, which will open up a new space for deepening the exchanges and cooperation between Jiangsu and Hong Kong.
In the face of the overlapping effects of the Belt and Road construction, the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region as well as the new development opportunities from the adjustment of the world trade pattern, we are willing to share development opportunities with the Hong Kong compatriots and deepen the integration and development, the CPC provincial chief said, adding that it is hoped that all provincial CPPCC members from Hong Kong will play a greater role in the all-round exchanges and cooperation between the two regions.
Lou Qinjian stressed that the prosperity and development cannot be separated from social stability, adding that we are full of confidence in the policy of "one country, two systems" and "Hong Kong people administering Hong Kong" with a high degree of autonomy.
He said we firmly support Hong Kong's prosperity and stability and we hope to expand the exchanges between the young people in the two regions, constantly enhance the development confidence of entrepreneurs in the two places, and forge ahead by uniting the powerful positive energy.
On behalf of the delegation, Zheng Xiangling, head of the delegation of the provincial CPPCC member association in Hong Kong, thanked Jiangsu Province for its thoughtful arrangements. She said that the association strongly supports the Chief Executive of the Legislative Council to lead the SAR Government in administering the government according to law and firmly support the Hong Kong police in their strict enforcement. She added that they will undoubtedly resort to practical actions to defend the rule of law and social order in Hong Kong.
The provincial CPPCC members from Hong Kong are very optimistic about Jiangsu’s development and will certainly play an active role and make greater contributions to the high-quality development process in Jiangsu, she said.
