Wu Zhenglong, Governor of Jiangsu, met Sunday in Nanjing with Chen Anning, President and CEO of Ford China.
Wu Zhenglong expressed his welcome to Chen Anning and expressed his gratitude to Ford Motor for its long-term contribution to the development of Jiangsu.
Jiangsu is a major powerhouse of science and education and a major industrial power, he said, adding that the province enjoys superior location, a good business environment and a developed real economy. The automobile industry is a strategic pillar industry of Jiangsu and an important part of promoting the high-quality development of manufacturing, he added.
The Governor noted that in the current external environment, many enterprises are building product R&D centers and operation centers in Nanjing by seizing the major strategic opportunities such as the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region, which has been evidenced by the long-term strategic vision of Ford Motor so as to promote mutually beneficial cooperation and win-win development between the two sides and achieve more fruitful results.
Wu hoped that Ford will continue to regard Jiangsu as one of its important strategic layouts in the world and to launch more large projects in Jiangsu. He said Jiangsu will unswervingly promote all-round opening, create a better environment, and fully support Ford's innovation, creation and growth in Jiangsu.
Chen Anning said that Ford has always regarded Jiangsu as an important strategic base. Ford will grasp the development trend of electrification, intelligence, e-commerce and sharing, transform more innovation achievements in Jiangsu, and launch more high-end projects in Jiangsu to achieve high-quality development.
In another development, Ford Motor (China) Co., Ltd. and Nanjing Jiangning Development Zone Management Committee signed a cooperation agreement Sunday. Ford Automotive Product R&D Center and China Operation Center will be officially settled in Jiangning District, Nanjing.
The launch of the two centers of Ford Motor Co., Ltd. will further enhance the concentration of Nanjing's green smart car industry and accelerate the transformation of Jiangning Development Zone from a manufacturing base to a high-industry chain.
