The National Conference on Elderly Care Services in Big Cities and the National Elderly Care Services Promotion Conference was held in Nanjing on Thursday. Lou Qinjian, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, met with Huang Shuxian, Minister of Civil Affairs. Governor Wu Zhenglong addressed the meeting.
Lou Qinjian thanked the Ministry of Civil Affairs for its long-term support for Jiangsu's work. He hoped that the Ministry of Civil Affairs would strengthen guidance and help Jiangsu to continuously improve its civil affair service capabilities and make greater contributions to the overall situation of the country.
Huang Shuxian said that the Ministry of Civil Affairs will continue to support Jiangsu's reform and exploration in the modernization of civil affairs and help with the province’s high-quality development of civil affairs.
When addressing the conference, Huang Shuxian pointed out that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Xi Jinping has made a series of important instructions on civil affairs and elderly care services based on the overall situation of the party and the country, which has clarified the role and orientation, the purpose, the nature and the objectives of the development of elderly care services, pointed out the way forward through major theoretical and practical issues such as work-oriented points and provided action follow-up for the work of the elderly care services in the new era.
He said the Party Central Committee and the State Council have made comprehensive arrangements for the provision of elderly care services, providing a strong basis and setting clear requirements for the development of elderly care services.
Civil affairs departments at all levels must enhance their political stance, understand the mission and responsibility of grasping the elderly care services in the new era, and continuously enhance the mission, responsibility, urgency and consciousness of promoting the development of elderly care services, the Minister said.
He called on the civil affairs departments to further improve and implement the planning of elderly care service facilities, further increase the supply of quality elderly care services, continuously optimize the policy environment, and actively explore the elderly care service channels with Chinese characteristics for large cities.
Huang Shuxian demanded that civil affairs departments at all levels must strengthen organizational leadership, ensure that the deployment of various tasks is effective, and enable the senior people to live with dignity and in happiness.
On behalf of the provincial party committee and the provincial government, Wu Zhenglong expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Civil Affairs and other state ministries and commissions, provinces and autonomous regions for their long-term interest in supporting Jiangsu's development.
He said that shortly after the National Civil Affairs Conference, the Ministry of Civil Affairs held a national conference on the work of the elderly care services in the big cities in Nanjing, which is an important instruction to implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions, the spirit of Premier Li Keqiang’s speech, and the decision of the Party Central Committee and the State Council.
Under the guidance of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, Jiangsu will always regard the work of providing elderly care services as an important measure to adhere to the people-centered development thinking and practice new development concepts, and strive to ensure the provision of elderly care services, promote the development of elderly care industry, and accelerate the construction of home-based elderly care services, the governor said.
