East China’s Jiangsu province has made headway in the paired assistance for northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, as is evidenced by the recent announcement that the Yan’an, one of the poorest regions in Shaanxi, has cast off poverty.
Yan'an, a former revolutionary base of the Communist Party of China, is no longer labeled "poor," as its last two impoverished counties have shaken off poverty, the Shaanxi provincial government announced Tuesday.
The city of Wuxi in Jiangsu province has provided paired assistance to Yan’an from industrial cooperation, labor cooperation, etc.
Yan'an Spear Integrated Building Technology Co., Ltd., which is launched and promoted by Jiangyin City of Jiangsu province, is moving forward smoothly and is expected to be put into production by the end of the year. In recent years, Wuxi has provided more than 990 paired assistance projects to Yan’an with funds totaling nearly 190 million yuan.
More than 400 enterprises from Jiangsu has launched 546 investment projects in the underdeveloped counties of Shaanxi with total funds amounting to nearly 10 billion yuan.
95% of the poverty alleviation projects launched by Jiangsu in Shaanxi are industrial projects, benefiting 391,200 needy people in Shaanxi.
Over the years, Jiangsu and Shaanxi have attached great importance to the cooperation of poverty alleviation, forming a high-standard, all-round, multi-level, three-dimensional working mechanism and collaborative structure. On May 7th, the Jiangsu-Shaanxi Collaborative Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Ability Training Session was launched in Jiangsu.
In 2018 alone, Jiangsu organized 340 companies to carry out industrial cooperation in Qinghai and Guizhou, and signed 56 intergovernmental and inter-firm cooperation agreements with Liaoning. 2188 professional and technical personnel including teachers, agricultural technology and medical services have been selected to provide intellectual help in these areas.
Jiangsu allocated 5.66 billion yuan for the paired assistance programs with periodical increments to ensure that the total capital tripled from a year ago.
