The Huai'an High-speed Railway East Station is located in Huai'an High-speed Railway Business District. It is a national railway passenger transportation hub connecting high-grade railways such as the Huaiyin-Yangzhou-Zhenjiang Railway, Xuzhou-Suqian-Yancheng Intercity Railway and Nanjing-Huai’an Intercity Railway. The project covers an area of 261 mu and a construction area of 300,000 square meters. With a total investment of about 3 billion yuan, the station will play a positive role in improving the road network in East China.
The Xuzhou-Suqian-Huai'an-Yancheng High-speed Railway and the Lianyungang-Huai'an-Yangzhou-Zhenjiang High-speed Railway have entered the stage of electrification and track-laying. It is expected that by the end of this year, the Xuzhou-Suqian-Huai'an-Yancheng High-speed Railway will be opened to traffic and Lianyungang-Huai'an-Yangzhou-Zhenjiang High-speed Railway will be opened to traffic one section after another. In the future, it will take more than one hour to travel from Huai'an to Nanjing. It takes only more than two hours to go from Huai’an to Shanghai and only three hours to Beijing.
The expansion of Xuzhou East Station is in full swing. The expansion of the East Station Building Foundation Project has been completed and is expected to be put into use at the end of the year. As one of the seven central hubs of the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway, Xuzhou East Station currently sends off about 30,000 passengers per day. The newly-built station building will be expanded by three times, which can meet the daily demand of 50,000 passengers and 80,000 passengers during the peak period, greatly alleviating the current situation of waiting for trains.
After the completion of the expansion, Xuzhou East Station will have 13 platforms and 28 rail tracks of super-large scale, and accommodate many lines such as Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway, Xuzhou-Lanzhou high-speed railway and Xuzhou-Suqian-Huai'an-Yancheng High-speed Railway.
