East China’s Jiangsu province will continue to enhance its capacity of traffic management and services through deepened reforms so that transportation is more orderly, roads are smoother, cities are more civilized, and the people are more satisfied.
By the end of 2018, the number of motor vehicles in the province had reached 20.63 million, an increase of 5.3%. The number of motor vehicle drivers was 28.62 million, an increase of 6.7%. Suzhou is one of the eight cities in the country with more than 3 million motor vehicles.
In 2019, Jiangsu will improve the level of refined traffic organization by rationally setting up or withdrawing zebra crossing, promoting the use of pedestrian crossing lights, pedestrian crossing reminders while efforts will be made to expose motor vehicles that do not yield at zebra crossings and pedestrians that run traffic lights.
Tidal lanes and other measures will be implemented to optimize traffic organizations at road intersections.
Shared parking and smart parking will be launched to maximum the use of parking facilities.
Transport authorities will reform their functions to ensure that transport payment is to be made electronically and driver licenses can be collected within easy reach of the test-takers.
Jiangsu will also strengthen the registration management of electric bicycles, so that all vehicles are registered and placed on file. Efforts will be made to explore the application of electronic monitoring, face recognition and other technologies to carry out off-site law enforcement, and strictly investigate traffic violations by electric bicycle drivers.
