The Ministry of Ecology and Environment kicked off a campaign Tuesday in Taizhou city, Jiangsu province, to investigate and rectify the discharge of sewage into the Yangtze River in order to continuously promote pollution prevention and control. The provincial campaign also went underway on Tuesday. The campaign will focus on the main stream of the Yangtze River and Taihu Lake in the administrative area of Jiangsu to check the sewage outlets leading directly to the Yangtze River and Taihu Lake through pipelines, ditches, canals, culverts and tunnels. Investigation will also be carried out to check sewage outlets for wastewater, and all discharge outlets that discharge wastewater through rivers, beaches, wetlands, etc. It is expected that the investigation will be completed before the end of September this year.
