The 13th National People's Congress, China's top legislative body, opened its second session Tuesday morning at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Xi Jinping and other Chinese leaders attended the opening meeting. Premier Li Keqiang delivered the government work report at the meeting.

China has set its GDP growth target at 6-6.5 percent for 2019, according to a government work report available to the news media Tuesday morning ahead of the annual legislative session.
China aims to maintain consumer inflation level at around 3 percent and create over 11 million new urban jobs. The surveyed urban unemployment rate is projected to stay around 5.5 percent, the registered urban unemployment rate within 4.5 percent, according to the report to be delivered Tuesday morning at the second session of the 13th National People's Congress, China's national legislature.
"The above projected targets are ambitious but realistic--they represent our aim of promoting high-quality development, are in keeping with the current realities of China's development, and are aligned with the goal of completing the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects," the report says..

The government work report puts forward new requirements for the promotion of the "Belt and Road" construction this year. Jiangsu is the meeting point of the "Belt and Road". The provincial party committee and the provincial government also attach great importance to the integration of the "Belt and Road" construction. Last year, the implementation opinions were specially formulated. In this year's work, we should better promote mechanism construction, platform construction and project construction, and better promote capacity cooperation, economic and trade exchanges and cultural exchanges.
