East China’s Jiangsu province will designate some districts of Nanjing to carry out pilot project on after-school services for primary and middle school students by using high-quality sports and technology education resources, the provincial department of education said Friday.
The pilot project will be launched in Gulou District, Xuanwu District, Qinhuai District, Jianye District and Gaochun District of Nanjing. The students can stay at school and learn traditional cultures provided by schools while waiting for their parents to pick them up.
The sports courses for after-school services in primary and secondary schools include the "Sunshine Sports" professional team entering the campus, the sports community professional entering the campus and the social sports instructors entering the campus. The science and technology after-school services are scientific arts craftsmen, practice activities, science popularization into the campus, expert report, and scientific innovation cloud classroom.
The after-school service courses can be arranged from Monday to Friday afternoon. Those for junior high school can be arranged for half-days of the weekend. The student community will participate in the activities on a voluntary basis.
