The first artificial intelligence-empowered bus in Jiangsu Province took the road test in Changzhou Science and Education Town on January 18.
Many passers-by stopped to watch the lovely panda-shaped smart bus, in black and white.
This bus has made a full use of various technologies, such as self-driving, people-car communication, hand pay, eye tracking, and vehicle anti-theft and alarm system based on computer vision.
On the bus, there is also a vending machine for drinks and the back of each seat is equipped with a small display.
The palm scanner reads the unique pattern of capillary vessel in your hand, much safer than palm print. Users need to finish simple registration first, link the account with WeChat or Alipay to realize the automatic payment.
The 12-meter-long bus is installed with many sensors that integrate over 20 AI technologies, and the use of AI computer vision accounts for 70 percent.
Jiangsu media reported the smart bus can detect the vehicles and pedestrians on the sensing area on the road surface and both sides of road through sensors installed on the road. When the distance is too close to the safety threshold, the system will automatically brake to ensure safety.
The vehicle has two emergency systems, one for monitoring passenger’s abnormal behavior and one for escape, which guarantee safety in all aspects.
When used on road, the bus will be equipped with security personnel, mainly responsible for assisting self-driving and intervention in emergencies.
