The annual session of the 12th Provincial People’s Congress concluded Thursday afternoon after wrapping up all the agendas. Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and chairman of the standing committee of the Provincial People’s Congress, presided over the closing ceremony and delivered a speech. Present at the closing ceremony were executive chairpersons of the annual legislative session Lou Qinjian, Chen Zhengning, Xu Zhongzhi, Xing Chunning, Liu Handong, Wei Guoqiang and Qu Futian.
Also present at the opening ceremony were senior leaders Wu Zhenglong, Governor of Jiangsu, Luo Zhijun, chairman of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Li Xueyong, chairman of the National People's Congress Education, Culture, and Health Committee, and Zhang Lianzhen, deputy chairwoman of the Education Science Health Sports Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
Li Xiaomin was elected as the deputy director of the Standing Committee of the 13th People's Congress of Jiangsu Province. Wang Liping was elected as a member of the Standing Committee of the 13th People's Congress of Jiangsu Province.
The annual session passed the resolutions of the government work report, the implementation of the National Economic and Social Development Plan of Jiangsu Province in 2018 and the resolution of the National Economic and Social Development Plan of 2019, the implementation of the budget of Jiangsu Province in 2018 and the resolution of the 2019 budget.
The annual session also passed the resolutions on the Work Report of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress, the resolution on the Work Report of the Higher People's Court of Jiangsu Province, and the resolution on the Work Report of the People's Procuratorate of Jiangsu Province.
Lou Qinjian said that through the joint efforts of all the deputies of the second session of the 13th People's Congress of Jiangsu Province, had wrapped up its agendas.
He demanded that Jiangsu should hold high the great banner of Xi Jinping's new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, promote the emancipation of the mind, unify the thoughts and implement new ideas, uphold the four consciousnesses and the four self-confidences, safeguard the authority of the CPC Central Committee and unite around the centralized and unified leadership the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core so as to sail farther with full horsepower at the helm of General Secretary Xi Jinping.
[voice over]The CPC Provincial chief said that we must always strengthen strict Party governance and ensure clean governance, always uphold the party's leadership, ensure that the people are the masters of the country, and give full play to the superiority of the socialist political system with Chinese characteristics so as to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the new China with solid development results.
