Municipal leaders of Kunshan city made a special trip to the Army Engineering University of the People's Liberation Army on Monday morning to visit Qian Qihu, the winner of the 2018 national Science and Technology Award.
Du Xiaogang, Secretary of Kunshan Municipal Party Committeeand Zhou Xudong, Mayor of Kunshan city warmly congratulated Qian and paid their highest respects on behalf of the local government and people of Kunshan.
Qian Qihu, 82 years old, was born in Dianshanhu Town of Kunshan city. He is the first academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a noted expert in protective engineering in China and the founder of modern protection engineering theory. He has dedicated his life to protection engineering research and established the groundbreaking system of China’s modern protection engineering theory. His goal is to build an impregnable “Underground Great Wall” for China.
Qian Qihu said that dedication is the duty of the soldiers. Building a strong army by developing science and technology is the mission of military scientists. The National Science and Technology Award is anhonor that should be shared by all scientific and technological personnel in the field of protective engineering. The award is not only an honor but also a huge responsibility.
He said that it was in Kunshan where he was raised. Thus, he decided to donate all the 8 million yuan bonusto set up a scholarship fund in Kunshan to help with the education of children from poor families.
