Le Corbusier was a French-Swiss architect who enjoyed a high reputation throughout the world in the 20th century. He and Walter Gropius, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Frank Lloyd Wright have been known as the four masters of modern architecture. He created as early as a century ago various architectural forms that we see today. La Corbusier is also an outstanding designer, painter, graphic designer and stylist. A collection of Cassina furniture designed by him was once popular all over the world.
On Jan. 10, the “Le Corbusier—The Symphony of Colours” exhibition was opened at Suzhou Art Museum, which is a retrospective on the life and works of the architect. The exhibition is hosted by Suzhou Art Museum and the Le Corbusier Foundation. It will last until Feb. 17.
The exhibition highlights 10 models of Le Corbusier’s architectural masterpieces, including Villa Savoye in Poissy, Unite d’Habitation in Marseille, and Chapelle Notre Dame du Haut in Ronchamp. Some of his cross-disciplinary works, paintings, sculptures, enamel paintings and books are also on display.
