The second session of the 12th Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference opened Monday at the Grand Hall of Jiangsu.
Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu provincial committee, delivered a speech.
Huang Lixin, Chairwoman of the Provincial Committee of the CPPCC,delivered a work report on behalf of the Standing Committee of the 12th CPPCC Provincial Committee.
Present at the opening ceremony were vice chairpersons of the CPPCC Provincial CommitteeZhou Jianmin, Zhu Xiaojin, Hong Huimin, Ma Jianguo, Yan Li, Hu Jinbo, Zhou Jiye, Wang Rongping, Hu Gang. Yang Feng, secretary-general of the CPPCC Provincial Committee, were also present.
Yan Li, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the 12th Provincial CPPCC, presided over the opening ceremony.
On behalf of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, Lou Qinjian expressed his warm congratulations on the convening of the second session of the 12th CPPCC Provincial Committee.
Jiangsu achieved a good start for high-quality development in 2018 by implementing Xi Jinping's new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, he said.
These achievements were achieved under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core through the hardships of the people of Jiangsu, including the CPPCC organizations at all levels and the CPPCC members, he added.
The CPC Provincial Chief noted that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 70th anniversary of the founding of the CPPCC. It is also a crucial year for realizing the goal of building a comprehensively well-off society at a high-level.
Lou Qinjian stressed that Xi Jinping's new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics is the spiritual banner that leads us to forge ahead and a beacon of thought that shines on the new era and marches toward a new journey.
We must unswervingly implement the various arrangements that meet the requirements of the central government, and strive to create a new development situation in the steady progress, deepen the reform and opening up, sharpen up the province’s competitive edges, improve the well-being of people's livelihood and meet their longing for a better life, the CPC Provincial Chief said.
He stressed that party committees at all levels should integrate the work of the CPPCC into the overall work, and ensure that the CPPCC has a political status, a chance to make proposals, and a stage to contribute its efforts.
By summing up the work in the past year, Huang Lixin elaborated on the work of the CPPCC in the future, calling on the CPPCC Provincial Committee and its members to focus on the deployment requirements of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 13th Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, give full play to the CPPCC's proposals, serve the overall situation, celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the New China and Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference with outstanding achievements and make greater contribution to building a well-off society at a high level, promoting high-quality development, and accelerating the pace of building a new Jiangsu.
