The General Office of the Jiangsu Provincial Government has recently released an action plan to keep clean waterbodies, Jiangsu media reported on January 14.
The key tasks identified in the plan include a full survey and mapping of polluted waterbodies at inhabited areas, a coordinated indexing and administration of discharge outlets in rivers and lakes, diversion of rain and sewage in city’s newly developed areas, control over the industrial and agricultural pollution and dredging to remove pollutants in sediment.
According to the plan, by the end of this year, the province aims to eradicate all bodies of black odorous water in cities and inhabited areas in counties in the Taihu Lake basin, with the sewage treatment rate at 95 percent and 85 percent respectively.
