Shushan Ecological Village is awarded the highest level of a five-star rural tourism area by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of culture and Tourism.
Two villages in Suzhou New District, Jiangsu province were recently added to the list of provincial rural tourism areas, according to the province's Department of culture and Tourism.
Shushan Ecological Village was awarded the highest level of a five-star rural tourism area and Teddy Farm was awarded the level of four-star.
Shushan village boasts abundant tourism resources, convenient transportation and complete infrastructure. In recent years, the Suzhou village has ramped up the promotion of its tourism industry based on its three treasures: Yunquan tea leaves, waxberry and Cuiguan pear.
The village has also in recent years attached great importance to protecting natural environment and distinctive local cultural elements, including stone culture, and integrated the tourism industry with local arts, folk customs and sports.
Teddy Farm is awarded as a four-star rural tourism area by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of culture and Tourism.
With an area of 463 mu (30.87 hectares), Teddy Farm is a good place for families to take their children. The farmland includes four themed areas: rural manor, happy farm, sunshine ranch, and German Teddy amusement land.
To date, Suzhou New District has housed four National 4A level scenic areas and two National 3A level scenic areas, the highest being 5A level.
Over the past years, the Suzhou district has focused on rural tourism and launched many special tourism routes, such as ecological, cultural, and parent-child tours. In 2018 the district welcomed more than 15 million tourists from home and abroad.
