Governor Wu Zhenglong presided over a meeting Wednesday afternoon in Nanjing to solicit opinions from retired provincial leaderson the government work report that is to be delivered at the annual provincial legislative session and the work plan for the next year.
The retired provincial leaders said since last year, Jiangsu has achieved a good start in its high-quality development by adhering to the guidance of Xi Jinping's new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, implementing the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on Jiangsu's work, following the general tone of making progress while maintaining stability, and practicing the new development concept.
The former provincial leaders include Chen Huanyou, Li Mingchao, Zhang Weiguo, Shi Heping, Wu Donghua, Lu Jun, Zhang Jiuhan, Chen Baotian and Wang Hongmin.
They also put forth proposals concerning the deepening the reform and opening up, winning the "three tough battles" of preventing financial risks, reducing poverty and tackling pollution， accelerating industrial transformation and upgrading, building a comprehensive three-dimensional transportation system and developing hub economy, supporting the development of the private economy, boosting new consumption engines, promoting high-quality cultural construction, promoting coordinated regional development and strengthening food and drug safety supervision.
Wu Zhenglong said the provincial government will take into consideration the proposals so as to revise and improve the "Government Work Report". He hoped the retired provincial leaders will continue to support the work of the government as they always did in the past by bringing into full play their rich work experiences and broader scope of influence.
The Governor also expressed his sincere hope that the retired provincial leaders will follow the decision-making policies of the CPC Central Committee and the work plan of the CPC Provincial Committee and the provincial government and contribute their opinions for the creation of a better environment for the province’s social and economic development and high quality development.
