In today’s report, we will lead you to the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Museum to tell you how the museum has been committed to strengthening patriotism education and conveying the concept of peaceful development since its establishment in 1985.

Starting from September 18 this year, every morning, the first 12 visitors to the Memorial Museum will be able to strike the Peace Bell as a sign of special commemoration to mourn the Nanjing Massacre victims.

81 years ago, the invading Japanese army occupied Nanjing, then capital of China, and launched a six-week massacre in and outside the city.

In order to remember history, in 1985, at the massacre site and the ruins of the mass graves in Jiangdongmen of Nanjing, the Memorial Hall for the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre by the Japanese Invaders was inaugurated. A large-scale expansion has been carried out for every ten years.

Since the launch of the National Memorial Day for the Nanjing Massacre Victims in 2014, every December 13th, the state memorial ceremony was held here. At the end of 2017, the memorial museum completed its third reorganization by adding the theme of "human memory" to make the theme of the Nanjing Massacre more prominent.

From a small venue to the present museum that receives 8 million visitors each year, from the remembrance that belonged to Nanjing people only to the inscription of the Documents of Nanjing Massacreon Memory of World Register, from an annual local mourning activity to the national memorial day ceremony, over the years, the Memorial Museum has undergone tremendous changes in the spread of the historical facts of the massacre.

The Memorial Museum, with an exhibition area of 20,000 square meters, has exhibited more than 6,000 pieces of historical materials.

Since its establishment 33 years ago, it has received nearly 100 million visitors from all over the world with about 9 million foreign visitors and about 55 million young visitors.

The Nanjing Municipal People's Congress has passed the Regulations of Nanjing City on the National Memorial Ceremony, making it China's first local legislation on national memorial ceremony.
