Wang Yanwen (R4), presented the books to eight libraries.
Jiangsu Library, a compilation of the province’s rich cultural and historical literatures, was unveiled at the first Jiangnan Context Forum on the morning of December 3, as part of an ambitious project to explore, systemize cultural heritages.
Under the direct leadership of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Jiangsu People’s Government, the project was initiated and launched in 2016 by the committee’s publicity department as a province-level cultural development strategy. The project aims to make a thorough review and study of the culture and history in the coastal province within ten years, and also develop the cultural legacies in innovative and creative ways.
Jiangsu Library attempts to include 3,000 books in the end, setting a record in the cultural history of Jiangsu and even the nation. With Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, and Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu as the collection’s editor-in-chief, Wang Yanwen, member of the standing committee of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and also the provincial committee’s publicity chief, has personally guided and supported the initiative for many times.
Jiangsu Library consists of six groups of books, such as the Selected, Historical Materials and Local Records, with nearly 10,000 kinds of literature. The first batch of books, a total of 86 volumes in five categories, involves 152 types of historical literature of the province, which range from the valuable historical documents to papers that represent the highest academic standards of today.
At the forum’s opening ceremony, Li Xiaomin, member of the standing committee of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and secretary of the CPC Wuxi Committee, and Wang Yanwen presented the books to eight libraries – the National Library of China, Fudan University Library, Zhejiang University Library, Anhui University Library, Nanjing Library, Nanjing University Library, Library of Jiangsu Academy of Social Sciences and Jiangnan University Library.
