The State Sports General Administration and the Ministry of Finance have confirmed and announced the list of large-scale sports venues that were be subsidized by the central government in 2018. A total of 1,277 large-scale sports venues across the country will offer free admission or admission at lowcost. The move is subject to supervision by the people.
The central government’s provision of funds to large-scale sports stadiums is meant to urge them to better open to the public and improve the level of public sports services. Public sports venues and facilities that enjoy subsidies should be open to the public free of charge or at low cost. The opening hours should be no less than 35 hours per week, no less than 8 hours on public holidays, bank days, winter and summer vacations, and no less than 330 days per year.
The outdoor public areas and outdoor fitness equipment belonging to these venues should be open to the public free of charge throughout the year by opening no less than 12 hours a day.
These venues should make prior announcement to the public 7 days in advance if they cannot open to the public or adjust the opening hours due for the sake of maintenance, security, training, competitions, weather, etc.
People may complain to the State Sports General Administration for any violation of the regulations on the part of the sports venues that enjoy the government subsidies.
