The city of Nanjing kicked off on Sunday construction on four transportation infrastructure projects that include 2 cross-Yangtze passages, anurban rail transit and a highway.
The two cross-Yangtze passages will join both banks of the Yangtze River at Jianning West Road and Xianlin Road. Upon their completion, the two cross-Yangtze passages will become part of the urban artery networks to alleviate the traffic congestion in the river crossings of the Yangtze. 7 cross-Yangtze passages will be built in Nanjing in the next two years.
Construction also went underway on the southern extension of the rail transit project subway S8 line. Upon its completion, the subway S8 line is expected to strengthen the link between the central area of Jiangbei New District and Liuhe District, and promote the regional development.
The Nanjing-Ma’anshan Highway will be upgraded from four lanes to eight lanes in both directions. Upon its opening, the important highway linking Nanjing and Anhui will help to ease the traffic congestion for residents in Banqiao and Guli.
