Another two-day activity of Foreigners‘ view of Jiangsu took place the past weekend. More than 20 foreign friends from over ten countries had a wonderful trip to north jiangsu’s Suqian city.
Sponsored by Information Office of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government and co-organized by Information Office of Suqian Municipal People's government and Management Committee of Yanghe New District, this trip to Suqian officially started Saturday afternoon when a launching ceremony was held in Yanghe liquor factory. Yang liqun, Vice Minister of Publicity Department of Jiangsu provincial Party committee，delivered a welcome speech to over 20 foreign friends from more than ten countries including Ukraine, Bangladesh and Nepal and wished them a good time.
Giving a tour in Yanghe Liquor Factory and sipping Chinese spirit, appreciating plants in Agriculture Carnival, wandering in the ocean of flowers in Santaishan National Forest Park, our foreign friends had a fantastic time busy themselves with taking pictures and getting to know everything.
This trip came to a climax at the scenic area of Xiangyu’s Hometown. Xiangyu was a prominent warlord who lived in the late Qin dynasty. He engaged Liu Bang, the founding emperor of the Han dynasty, in a long struggle for power, known as the Chu–Han Contention, which concluded with his eventual defeat at the Battle of Gaixia. Xiangyu was then honored as the hero of Suqian and his birthplace was rebuilt and expanded into this scenic area to commemorate him. Now, in the place mingled with history and modernity, our foreign friends came into touch with this period of history and had this amazing memory about Suqian.
Initializing in 2012, Foreigners’ view of Jiangsu is aimed to bring more foreign friends closer to each part of Jiangsu province, to let them savor the special culture of Jiangsu and embrace Jiangsu.
