The 19th Provincial Games kicked off Friday evening in the city of Yangzhou. Let’s go and take a close look.
Present at the opening ceremony were Lou Qinjian, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, Huang Lixin, Chairwoman of the Provincial Political Consultative Conference, Fan Jinlong, member of the standing committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Executive Vice Governor, and Vice Governor Chen Xingying.
The Provincial Games was attended by 35,000 contestants who will compete in 80 events.
The opening ceremony of the 19th Provincial Games began amid the cheers of the audience.
The national flag was hoisted against the rhythm of the majestic national anthem of the People’s Republic of China. Amid the song of the 19th Provincial Games, the banner of the Jiangsu Provincial Games and the flag of the 19th Provincial Games were also raised.
Fan Jinlong delivered the opening speech and expressed his warm congratulations on the opening of the Provincial Games on behalf of the provincial party committee and the provincial government.
He said that a comprehensively well-off society rests with the health of the people. The ultimate development of high quality is to let the people live a high quality life. By hosting the Provincial Games, the province intends to make a comprehensive review of the achievements of sports development, implement the people-centered development thinking and create a better life for modernization.
Xie Zhengyi, secretary of the Yangzhou Municipal Party Committee, delivered a welcome speech and extended a warm welcome to the athletes and guests on behalf of the Yangzhou Municipal Party Committee, the municipal government and the people of Yangzhou.
Lou Qinjian announced the opening of the 19th Provincial Games.
The 19th Provincial Games will close on September 28.
