Governor Wu Zhenglong visits Norway

  A delegation headed by Governor Wu Zhenglong visited Norway from last Thursday to Friday. Wu attended the Jiangsu-Norway High-tech Industry Exchange Conference and met with Wang Min, Chinese Ambassador to Norway, and Daniel Bjarmann-Simonsen, State Secretary of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries of Norway. He also visited Det Norske Veritas and Norsk Hydro A.S.

  On the morning of last Thursday, Wu Zhenglong gave a keynote speech at the Jiangsu-Norway High-tech Industry Exchange Conference in Oslo. Wang Min, Chinese Ambassador to Norway, and Trasset, director of Innovation Norway, also delivered speeches respectively.

  In his keynote speech, Wu Zhenglong expressed his sincere welcome and heartfelt thanks to all the guests and participants at the conference.

  He said that in recent years, Jiangsu and Norway has continued to expand the scale of cooperation with the number of cooperative enterprises on the rise and the scope of cooperation being expanded. In particular, last year, the heads of state of the two countries reached a number of important consensuses, which pointed out the direction, laid the foundation and added momentum for the cooperation between Jiangsu and Norway.

  He hoped that this exchange conference will be a new starting point for the deepening of the cooperation between the two sides in the fields of eco-environmental protection, scientific and technological innovation, medical health, marine economy, trade and people-to-people exchanges so as to jointly write a new chapter in the innovation and development of the two places.

  Wang Min hoped that Jiangsu and Norway will bring into full play their respective advantages, share innovation achievements, and strive to build a partnership of mutual benefit. Trasset said that Innovation Norway will improve its mechanism and build a platform to strengthen the pragmatic cooperation around technological innovation and application of results.

  Nearly 120 enterprises and scientific research institutions from Jiangsu and Norway conducted in-depth negotiations on the sidelines of the conference. The Provincial Department of Commerce signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Innovation Norway. 

  Cooperation agreements were signed between Jiangsu Deep Blue Ocean Fisheries Co., Ltd. and Norwegian Wärtsilä Ship Design Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Qidi Science Park and Norwegian Reliance Capital.

  Before the opening of the conference, Wu Zhenglong met with Bjarmann-Simonsen, hoping that the two sides will further strengthen the cooperation in science and technology, economy and trade, marine fisheries and offshore engineering so as to complement each other's advantages for win-win results. Bjarmann-Simonsen said that Norway is committed to developing free trade and hopes to deepen the exchanges with Jiangsu in various fields and create more demonstrations for regional cooperation between Norway and China.

  When visiting Det Norske Veritas, Wu Zhenglong hoped that the two sides will work together to deepen the cooperation in high-end shipbuilding and shipping green transformation so as to jointly promote green and low-carbon development. 

  Det Norske Veritas is an independent international certification body and classification society with the purpose of safeguarding life, property, green environment, environment of care at sea and onshore.

  During his visit to Norsk Hydro A.S, a Norwegian aluminium and renewable energy company, Governor Wu hoped that the world leader of aluminum will strengthen its R&D and innovation by centering on the needs of the Chinese market and increase its investment in Jiangsu for greater market potentials. Jiangsu will provide better services and create a first-class business environment for enterprises to invest in Jiangsu and grow bigger and stronger.
