East China’s Jiangsu province held a provincial conference to convey the spirit of the important speeches delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the national education conference held on September 10 in Beijing.
Lou Qinjian, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. Wu Zhenglong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Jiangsu, and Huang Lixin, Chairwoman of the Provincial Political Consultative Conference, attended the conference.
Lou pointed out that the National Education Conference is a historic meeting held by the Party Central Committee in the critical stage of entering the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics and entering a decisive stage in building a well-off society in an all-round way. General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech, with high intentions, rich connotations and profound thoughts, is a programmatic document guiding the reform and development of education in the new era.
He called on the province to study and implement the spirit of the conference and take the important speech of General Secretary Xi Jinping as an important political task, grasp the reality and the rich connotation of "Nine Persistences", understand the overall requirements of the education work in the new era so as to further enhance the implementation of the ideological consciousness and action consciousness.
He asked the province to act in accordance with Xi Jinping's new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, especially General Secretary Xi Jinping's important exposition on education and the latest requirements of this conference, further emancipate the mind, highlight the problem orientation, make systematic plan so as to continuously improve the quality and level of educational development in Jiangsu.
The CPC Provincial Chief stressed that it is necessary to earnestly strengthen the party's overall leadership over education and build the education sector into a strong bastion to uphold the party's leadership, adding that Party committees at all levels in the province must earnestly assume the main responsibility, strengthen the leadership of the party over schools at all levels, and ensure that the party's line, principles, and policies are implemented without compromise.
Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed following the path of socialist education with Chinese characteristics to nurture generations of capable young people well-prepared to join the socialist cause, adding that young people should have an all-round moral, intellectual, physical, and aesthetical grounding with a hard-working spirit.
Xi made the statement at a national education conference on September 10th, which marks the 34th Teachers' Day in China.
He extended congratulations and greetings to teachers and other education workers nationwide on behalf of the CPC Central Committee.
It's imperative to uphold Marxism as a guiding ideology and stick to the path of socialist education with Chinese characteristics, Xi stressed.
Schools should adhere to the socialist direction, said the Chinese leader.
He called on the CPC and society to promote the social norms of respecting teachers and valuing education.
He stressed enhancing the political, social, and professional status of teachers so that they can enjoy their due social prestige and make greater contributions to the cause of the Party and the people by imparting knowledge and educating people.
