After three years of construction, Yangzhou City recently passed the national inspection and acceptance to become the first prefecture-level city in the country to pass the pilot inspection of the utilization and harmless treatment of kitchen waste.
Yangzhou, where the catering industry is developed, produces 100 tons of kitchen waste per day. They were uniformly transported and sent to the local kitchen waste disposal project site where the food residue is degraded by anaerobic digestion technology to produce biogas for power generation and heat supply. The waste oil is then refined to make biodiesel and natural gas.
Since being listed as a pilot project for the utilization and harmless treatment of kitchen waste in 2015, Yangzhou has built a high-standard kitchen waste terminal treatment facility, and completed the construction of an anaerobic fermentation system, a biodiesel extraction system, and sewage treatment. The system can handle more than 100 tons of kitchen waste every day, and its processing technology and capabilities are leading in the province.
Yangzhou has also continuously expanded the coverage of kitchen waste recycling by arranging 11 collection and transportation routes in the urban area, and signing processing agreements with more than 400 catering operators.
The catering operators regularly put the kitchen garbage into the specially configured garbage bins. The transportation vehicles make continuous and routine collection for transportation. The processing has basically covered all the kitchen wastes generated in the daily life in the urban areas.
