A group of CPPCC members in Jiangsu went on an inspection tour on the promotion of the Grand Canal Cultural Belt by visiting Suzhou, Yangzhou and Huai’an from last Tuesday to Friday. The CPPCC members are led by Huang Lixin, chairwoman of the provincial committee of CPPCC.
Huang Lixin said that we should thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on the protection of the Grand Canal and the construction of the Grand Canal cultural belt by focusing on the decision-making policies and deployment of the provincial party committee and the provincial government and contribute more wisdom and strength of the CPPCC to the construction of a beautiful Jiangsu with a high sense of political responsibility and a strong sense of historical mission.
Huang stressed that it is necessary to firmly grasp the requirements of high-quality development, strengthen overall planning, do a good job of scientific planning, give full play to the canal’s cultural resources, correctly handle the relationship between protection and development, and strive to create a brilliant cultural belt, a green ecological belt, and a colorful tourism belt.
She urged to coordinate the work of cultural heritage protection, ecological environment management, water conservancy, shipping, cultural and travel integration so as to achieve coordinated development for common growth.
The chairwoman also called for the province to strengthen coordination, form a joint force for the construction of the Grand Canal cultural belt, and strive to build the Jiangsu section of the Grand Canal into a high-grade cultural corridor, a high-value ecological corridor, and a high-level tourism corridor for the promotion of the Grand Canal cultural belt in Jiangsu.
