World experts share ideas on tumors and kidney disease

  The 2018 Nanjing Forum: Advances in Onconephrology kicked off in Nanjing on the morning of Aug. 24, attracting nearly one thousand attendants from the related areas.

  Four academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering, namely Liu Zhihong, Zheng Shusen, Ding Jian and Yu Jinming, shared their latest research development, together with Fernando Fervenza and Sanjeev Sethi, professors with the renowned Mayo Clinic in America. A number of national experts and elites will also make themed speech during the two-day forum.

  The forum is the first high-level seminar in China that was themed on “Onconephrology”, a frontier scientific concept. “Kidney disease is closely related to various kinds of tumors. Tumor itself can lead to kidney disease, and also those advanced treatments of tumor, such as operation, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, stem cell transplantation, can also do damages to kidney. There are few researches on this subject, and I wish this forum will inspire my fellow medical workers and academicians in their clinical studies,” said Prof. Liu Zhihong, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of National Clinical Research Center of Kidney Disease.

  Her attempts were applauded by Professor Shen, president of Nanjing Medical University. He said, “the forum is an initiative of international cooperation. The concept of Onconephrology sheds new light on diagnosis and treatment in related fields of kidney disease. It is good for the public health.”

  The forum was organized by National Clinical Research Center of Kidney Disease in Nanjing, which is one of the first batch of 13 national clinical research centers and the only one of national level in Jiangsu province.
