Suzhou City will kick off the 10th Foreign-funded Enterprises Sports Games from September to November, according to a press conference on Aug. 16.
A total of 6,769 athletes from 251 companies have signed up for the competition, the highest number of participating companies and individuals in the competition’s history.
Since its inception in 2009, Suzhou Foreign-funded Enterprises Sports Games has kept expanding the scale and influence, turning it into an iconic sports brand in the city.
Gong Jiming, deputy director of the Suzhou Sports Bureau, said that the new competition is divided into 18 events, a historical high in the past decade. The traditional events include football, basketball, badminton, table tennis, bowling, golf, billiards, Chinese chess, fishing, fencing, archery, e-sports, and urban orientation, all popular in previous competitions. The newly added events are rock climbing, martial arts, vertical marathon, mini-triathlon and 3x3 basketball. In addition to increase the entertainment and fun of the competition, the new events show reflect the competition’s spirit of being open, inclusive, trend-leading and optimistic, so that more people can share the joy of sports.
