The Jiangsu-born taekwondo player Zhao Shuai will serve as the flagbearer of the Chinese delegation at the opening ceremony of the 18th Asian Games, which is set to open in Jakarta, Indonesia on Aug 18.
Zhao served as flag bearer of the Jiangsu delegation at the opening ceremony of the National Games in August 2017.
Born in 1995, Zhao began to receive professional taekwondo training at the Changzhou City Sports School from 2006. He captured China's first title in men's taekwondo at the Olympic Games by claiming the gold medal of the men’s 58 kg at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Zhao moves into the under 63kg category for the Indonesia Games.
