Helicopter transfers critically injured man to Shanghai hospital

  A man critically injured after falling from a high crane in Taixing City of Jiangsu Province was transported to Shanghai for better treatment in just an hour, thanks to the helicopter service. He is now stable as he has received timely treatment.

  Mr. Chu, a 30-year-old native of Taixing, fell from a 15-meter-high tower crane on Aug. 13. Forty-eight hours after receiving a surgery at Taixing People's Hospital, he was found to suffer from as cites and fall into a critical situation. Doctors suggested transferring him to a hospital in Shanghai for better treatment, but Mr. Chu was thought unable to withstand a bumpy ambulance ride. The 240 kilometers journey to Shanghai needs at least 3 hours on the way, and emergencies are likely to hit the patient.

  Shanghai Kingwing General Aviation, which operates helicopters in emergency medical service, immediately offered to help after Chu’s family members contacted the firm.

  At 4:53 pm on August 15, the rescue helicopter landed at the playground of Taixing No. 1 High School next to Taixing People's Hospital. Then at 5:12 pm, the helicopter carrying Mr. Chu, his family members and medical workers left Taixing and arrived at Shanghai Longhua Airport at 6:12 pm. In a short time, doctors from Shanghai’s 120 emergency service cooperated with medical personals on-board the helicopter to transport Mr. Xu to Shanghai Changzheng Hospital.
