East China’s Jiangsu province is taking advantage of the current high temperature and sunny days to fully accelerate the construction of highways.

The workers were seen laying asphalt over the Zhenjiang-Danyang Expressway against the sizzling temperatures of more than 100 degrees.

The Zhenjiang-Danyang Expressway is located to the northeast of Zhenjiang City, connecting the Dagang Hub of Zhenjiang New District and the Danyang Hub of Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway.

Although it is only 21.6 kilometers in length, the expressway will be connected to the Taizhou Bridge and the Wufengshan Bridge. Both bridges, which are being constructed, will become a faster cross-river route of the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway.

According to the construction progress, the Zhenjiang-Danyang Expressway is scheduled for completion before the National Day holiday, rather than by the end of this year, as it is previously believed.

The Hai’an-Qidong Expressway is the longest highway being constructed in Jiangsu, running from Hai'an to Qidong with a total length of 130.75 kilometers and scheduled for completion in 2019.

The greening on both sides of roadbed has been done and the construction workers have used the new technology of straw fiber curtain to protect and mix the grass seeds to cope with silty sandy soil that is characteristics of Nantong area, which has successfully solved soil loss of slope during construction.

In the meantime, work is going on smoothly with the expansion of the Beijing-Shanghai expressway from four lanes into eight lanes in both directions.

Jiangsu will also speed up the construction of other major transportation projects to further improve the province-wide highway network.
